Competed for West End Athletic Club, Gardner, MA. National Champion, 112 lbs. Class,  1932/’33. Held US Records in Snatch and Clean & Jerk in that Class for 4 years. He was AAU Junior and Senior US Champion and ACWLA State, New England and National Champion, 1933. Set US Records in Press, Snatch and C&J in 118 lbs. Class at first New England AAU Championships, 1934. Set US Record of 366.5 lbs. for Two-Hands Deadlift, 118 lbs. Class. First New Englander to compete at national level. His Snatch of 155 3/4 lbs. at ACWLA New England Championships in Providence, RI (June 1933) was accepted as a World Record, a first for an American in one of the then-recognized five lifts. He was New England Champion in 1934/’35 and was coached by Ed Hamel.
